Went to my first midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture show last night. As much as I've enjoyed this movie before, it was a blast seeing it in that atmosphere. It was neat to see the film on a big screen, but what made it great was the audience participation.
If this was the first time you saw this movie in theaters, they drew a "V" on you cheeks with lipstick. Guess what it stands for?
If you didn't know, there are a ton of gags you get to play along with using cheap props. Like throwing confetti during the wedding scene or tossing a roll of toilet paper when Brad Majors (a-hole) yells, "Great Scott!" There is something strangely satisfying about throwing things in public.
There is also a troop of actors performing the entire movie on the stage below, in perfect lip-synch. It makes it interesting when things get risqué and they play to the crowd.
Then you add the singing and dancing along, and the yelling profanities at the screen, and you have a richer, deeper movie experience.
