Turning Down "Good" Opportunities

Today I turned down a paid writing gig. It's in the field I like and it would have earned me a few bucks... but it just didn't feel right. I would have to write other people's stuff, and not my own. I don't mind writing established characters; it would be a dream come true to write a Flash comic or an episode of Mad Men, but this was a little different. The person offering the job was really just looking for someone to fill a role, not a creative mind. I don't mind saying, I was probably approached because of circumstance, and not due to the merits of my past and current work. I don't want to get a job like that. I have too many projects, too many dreams, for me to put them on hold for someone else's.
