Although gaining some credibility in recent years, geeks (or whatever we are) have always been ridiculed. We're constantly picked on for our "shortcomings". We're often fat, skinny, pimple-faced, have bad hair, poor coordination, or just plain awkward. Usually, we try to escape the mocking by exploring other worlds. Alternate realities, be it science based or fantasy. We find these worlds in comic books, video games, role-playing adventures and the like. Go to any comic convention and you'll find us, social outcasts. Pushed to these obsessions by bullies, the intolerant and the ignorant. It's okay. Exploring these other worlds have made us better people.
My point being, looking geeky isn't part of being geeky; being geeky is a side effect of looking geeky.
