What I Miss About Tokyo...

Everything had purpose. Every aspect of the city was so visually interesting. Tokyo was an assault on the senses, almost to a fault. The sights, sounds and smells were arresting. The chaos made it difficult to think, impossible to choose.
Is this a good place to eat?
Is that mall expensive?
What kind of business is this?
Although at times overwhelming, it was so damn interesting. The city felt designed. Every surface was thought of not as a while, but as a way to entice. After only spending a week there, Chicago sometimes feels a bit dull.
But Chicago shouldn't be Tokyo. Where they have new and shiny we have historic and regal. Our city's design is second to none. Perhaps, we spend so much time looking down that we forget to take in the beauty all around us.
Perhaps I just want to see different kinds of buildings.
